Broadband Speed by Postcode: Check Available Speeds

These are Ofcom's figures for the postcode, from the regulator's Connected Nations data: which speed tiers are available there and to what share of premises. They are a reliable guide to what's on offer in the postcode, but not a reading for one line: the exact speed you get depends on the property, the provider and package you choose and your in-home wiring. Always confirm the estimated speed with the provider before you commit.

Superfast broadband is 30 Mbps or faster (typically FTTC part-fibre). Ultrafast is 300 Mbps or faster. Gigabit is 1,000 Mbps (1 Gbps) or faster, delivered by full fibre (FTTP) or cable. The checker shows which of these are available at the postcode.

Broadband is Material Information under the Law Society's TA6 form, and for remote workers it can make or break a property. Rural and older properties in particular can be stuck on slow connections. Checking before you offer avoids discovering after you move in that the connection can't support working from home.
